👶🏼 Biggest Fantasy Impact Rookies

Dynasty Info and Some News, Too

Let’s talk rookies now that we know where each will play! I’ll go through some fantasy values and we get some pertinent dynasty info from Ryan McDowell of Dynasty League Football.

Whoo hooo, we finally know where the rookies will call home after months of speculation. Here’s a look at the most fantasy-relevant guys and my thoughts on their value heading into the 2024 season.

Rounds 1-3 Rookies

🐻 Caleb Williams QB (CHI) - Williams was the first overall pick in the 2024 draft and landed in a beautiful situation in Chicago. Most rookie QBs go to a rebuilding squad (see Bryce Young in 2023), but Williams gets arguably the strongest pass-catching group in D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, fellow rookie Rome Odunze, and D’Andre Swift. Draft Value: Low-end QB1/2

🪖 Jayden Daniels QB (WAS) - The Commanders aren’t picture-perfect but Daniels is the full package we want for fantasy purposes. He’s an accurate passer who runs. Draft Value: QB2 with Upside

😈 JJ McCarthy QB (MIN) - He’s not likely in the redraft conversation in 2024 but McCarthy is walking into an offense with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Aaron Jones, and eventually TJ Hockenson at his disposal. He does have a rushing floor so is draftable in best ball and superflex formats. Draft Value: Low-end QB2

🪺 Marvin Harrison Jr. WR (ARI) - Marquise Brown and Rondale Moore are no longer in town and Arizona has 217 available targets from 2023. Harrison will be a target monster in his first year as a professional and considering his QB situation is better than most, he’s an immediate fantasy asset. Draft Value: WR2 with upside

🧢 Malik Nabors WR (NYG) - While not the best landing spot from a QB standpoint, Nabors has the talent to produce and should see plenty of balls in his first season. Draft Value: Low-end WR2/3

🏴‍☠️ Brock Bowers TE (LV) - We likely won’t see a repeat of Sam LaPorta’s rookie TE1 output due to landing in Las Vegas, but Bowers is still very much in the fantasy conversation. He should be second in targets behind Davante Adams and is so versatile and athletic, that he’ll find a way to shine despite catching balls from either Gardner Minshew or Aidan O’Connell. Draft Value: High-end TE2

⚡️ Ladd McConkey WR (LAC) - With 395 targets up for grabs (1st in the NFL), McConkey is in a great spot for immediate impact. The Chargers will likely be run-heavy but Justin Herbert is still the QB and the rookie should be in the mix from Day 1. Draft Value: WR3 with upside

🐈‍⬛ Jonathon Brooks RB (CAR) - The Panthers aren’t exactly a fantasy-producing machine, but if Brooks can get on the field quickly after an ACL tear he suffered in November, he should overtake Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders for lead-back duties. He’ll be hindered somewhat by this offense but will still be draftable in all formats. Draft Value: RB3

🦬 Keon Coleman WR (BUF) - The rookie has a chance to step right in as their WR1 on the outside with Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid catching balls in the middle of the field. With one of the best QBs in the game and plenty of potential opportunity, Coleman has a seat at the fantasy table right away. Draft Value: WR3

Xavier Worthy WR (KC) - Worthy gets to catch balls from Patrick Mahomes with Rashee Rice likely suspended for several games due to off-field legal issues. He’s a speedy downfield threat who Andy Ried will find ways to use right away. Draft Value: WR4

Honorable Mentions: Rome Odunze WR (CHI) Draft Value WR4: Brian Thomas Jr. WR (JAX) - Draft Value: WR5, Ja'Lynn Polk WR (NE) -Draft Value: WR6/7, Trey Benson RB (ARI) Draft Value: RB3/4, Xavier Legette WR (CAR) Draft Value: WR6. Adonai Mitchell WR (IND) Draft Value: WR5/6, Jermaine Burton WR (CIN) Draft Value: WR6, Roman Wilson WR (PIT) Draft Value: WR5/6

Rounds 4-7 Rookies

These guys are less likely to hit for fantasy in Year 1 but stranger things have certainly happened.

🐬 Jaylen Wright RB (MIA) - He’s super fast and joins a super fast offense. With De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert above him he’s buried at the start but if either were to miss time Wright is in play. Draft Value: RB4/5

🏴‍☠️ Bucky Irving RB (TB) - He could step right in as the pass-catching back but Rachaad Whiite is their guy. Draft Value: RB6

🐴 Troy Franklin WR (DEN) - He’ll be catching balls from college QB Bo Nix in Denver and will inherit a decent role without Jerry Jeudy in town. Draft Value WR6/7

Sent from Ryan McDowell: The 2024 NFL Draft is in the books. Dynasty League Football has everything you need to dominate your rookie draft and continue with a strong offseason. You should absolutely get to DLF and check out everything, included updated post-Draft rookie rankings for 1QB, Superflex and IDP leagues, as well as ADP data from actual dynasty leagues that are already drafting. I also want to highlight a couple of my favorite articles we’ve shared since the Draft concluded Saturday evening.

In his latest GAAP Memo, Cody Mortensen took a look at a 1QB Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft, with a focus on what we should all be considering as we make draft picks, talent, opportunity and draft capital. Here is a note about his somewhat surprising 1.04 pick…

1.04: Caleb Williams, CHI (QB)

I understand wanting a skill position here and a QB is not sexy in 1-QB. However, Williams’ floor is CJ Stroud from 2023. His weapons are unreal in DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze, D’Andre Swift, and Cole Kmet. We have never seen a #1 overall pick go into a situation like this that I can remember. This is a value play to lock in a weekly starter on your team for the next 10 years.

Also, I love the swagger. I know and understand that has been a turn-off, but he just seems like a confident and goofy kid figuring it out. I can root for that. If you have not watched Kyle Brandt’s rockstar rant on this. It is worth checking out.

As Cody mentions, landing spots matter…a lot. With that in mind, Josh Brickner dove into the Rookies Who Landed in the Best Situations for Dynasty Leagues. Check out the full article, along with this thought about new Chargers receiver Ladd McConkey…

The dynasty managers of Justin Herbert were frustrated on Thursday night as the Chargers passed on talented LSU wideout Malik Nabers for tackle Joe Alt. Now, this is a sensible, conservative pick from the Walmart khaki king himself Jim Harbaugh. Well, their loss was Ladd McConkey’s gain as he lands in one of the most receiver-needy locker rooms with a Pro Bowl signal caller.

With Keenan Allen and Mike Williams leaving Tinseltown this off-season, the Chargers have the most vacated targets (395) in the entire league. McConkey can truly compete to be the top target in AFC Los Angeles with Quentin Johnson and Joshua Palmer as his competition.

The Georgia product is one of this year’s fastest pre-draft risers. He lacked substantial collegiate production, but impressed NFL scouts and coaches alike during the Senior Bowl and NFL combine by pairing an elite route-running ability with a 4.39-second 40-yard dash. Yes, Jim Harbaugh will not be running the Air Raid offense, but he’s smart enough to not waste a special talent like Herbert. McConkey’s ability to get open should earn him the trust of both his coaches and franchise quarterback.
