Top Cash Game Values and GPP Contrarian Plays for Week 9

The Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter is now coming to your inbox seven days a week throughout the NFL season! In this Saturday edition, weā€™ll cover the top DFS values and contrarian plays for Week 9, and of course the happenings over at 4for4.

Using 4for4ā€™s powerful DFS Value Reports, Iā€™ll highlight the top DFS value plays at each position.

Week 9 Value Plays

šŸ¦… QB Jalen Hurts ($9,000 FD/$8,000 DK)

Jalen Hurts doesnā€™t have the best on-paper matchup against a Cowboys defense allowing the 10th-fewest schedule-adjusted fantasy points to quarterbacks, but the Eagles have the second-highest team total on the slate (25) in a game with the highest total (47). Hurts is one of two quarterbacks with at least 50 rush attempts on the year and is one of three quarterbacks on the slate to account for at least 75% of his teamā€™s yards and 80% of offensive touchdowns.

šŸ® RB Devin Singletary ($5,300 FD/$4,300 DK)

Dameon Pierce is out in Week 9, making Devin Singletary 4for4ā€™s top running back value below $6,500 on FanDuel and the best positional value below $6,00 on DraftKings. Singletary had already been cutting into Pierceā€™s workload by handling over 40% of backfield touches in each of the Texans' last two games. While Tampa Bay is a tough run defense, Singletary could see a favorable game script with Houston favored by a field goal at home.

šŸ’™ā¤ WR Demario Douglas ($5,400 FD/$4,000 DK)

New Englandā€™s wide receiver corps has been decimated by injuries and underperformance, catapulting Demario ā€œPopā€ Douglas to the top of the target totem pole. Douglas has accounted for at least 20% of the Patriotsā€™ targets in each of the last two weeks, including a team-leading 25% share last week. ā€œPopā€ should pop against a Washington defense allowing the most schedule-adjusted points to wide receivers this season.

ā TE Jake Ferguson ($5,100 FD/$4,000 DK)

After playing no more than 72% of snaps in a game over the first five weeks of the season, Jake Ferguson has played at least 80% of snaps in each of the Cowboys' last two games. With that, Ferguson has run 32.5 routes per game since Week 6, the fourth-most among tight ends in that span. In a potential shootout, Ferguson projects as the TE4 on this slate against the biggest pass-funnel defense in football.

Week 9 Contrarian Plays

Every week, 4for4 produces some of the most accurate DFS ownership projections in the industry. Using this ownership as a guide can point us to the best contrarian options to use in GPPs on both FanDuel and DraftKings.

šŸ˜‡ QB Derek Carr ($7,100 FD/$5,700)

The Saints will have two of the most rostered players on the slate (Kamara, Olave) but their quarterback should have ownership in the low single digits. Carr can be stacked with both of his chalky teammates against a Bears defense that is equally bad against the pass and the run.

šŸŸ šŸŸ¤ RB Jerome Ford ($7,000 FD/$5,300 DK)

Cleveland is one of the most run-heavy teams in the league and will face an Arizona defense allowing the fifth-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to running backs. After the Browns used a running back committee in Week 8, Ford will draw single-digit ownership but his usage should be that of a primary back with another week to heal from his ankle injury. No team on the main slate is favored by more than Cleveland, who is giving 10 points.

ā˜ WR Davante Adams ($8,000 FD/$8,100 DK)

A.J. Brown and CeeDee Lamb figure to dominate ownership among high-salary wide receivers while Davante Adams' teammate, Josh Jacobs, projects as one of the most popular running backs on the slate. The Raiders cleaned house this week and will have a new starting quarterback. All this could help appease Adams, who has been the squeakiest of wheels lately.

šŸ–¤ā¤ TE Kyle Pitts ($5,200 FD/$4,100 DK)

If youā€™re going to take the leap on Kyle Pitts, it might as well be on one of the ugliest slates of the year. Drake London is out and the Falcons are in the second week of a quarterback change, so the hope is that Pitts emerges as the preferred target this week. His biggest selling point is that he offers leverage off of a chalky Bijan Robinson.
