Top Cash Game Values and GPP Contrarian Plays for Week 8

The Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter is now coming to your inbox seven days a week throughout the NFL season! In this Saturday edition, weā€™ll cover the top DFS values and contrarian plays for Week 8, and of course the happenings over at 4for4.

Using 4for4ā€™s powerful DFS Value Reports, Iā€™ll highlight the top DFS value plays at each position.

Week 8 Value Plays

šŸ–¤šŸ’œ QB Lamar Jackson ($8,800 FD/$8,100 DK)

Lamar Jackson is 4for4ā€™s top quarterback value on FanDuel this week but is also a viable cash play on DraftKings, even with the hefty salary. Jackson has an ideal matchup against a Cardinals defense that has allowed the second-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to quarterbacks this year and the seventh-most total points scored. Only one quarterback besides Jackson has more than 50 rush attempts this season and his 52 yards per game on the ground spots fantasy players more than a passing touchdown worth of fantasy points. Baltimoreā€™s 27-point team total is the second-highest on the slate.

āœˆ RB Breece Hall ($7,200 FD/$5,900 DK)

Grossly underpriced on both FanDuel and DraftKings, Breece Hall is 4for4ā€™s top value across all positions on both sites and the easiest lock button in Week 8 cash games. Going into the Jetsā€™ Week 7 bye, Hall handled over 70% of the teamā€™s backfield touches in consecutive games, averaging 21 touches in those contests. The Jets are favored against a middling Giants run defense in an ā€œawayā€ game at their home stadium.

šŸ† WR Christian Kirk ($7,000 FD/$5,900 DK)

Christian Kirk projects as a top-10 fantasy wide receiver on the main slate but is priced as the WR17 on both sites. Zay Jones will sit again in Week 8, meaning Kirk should maintain the 26% target share heā€™s enjoyed over the last four weeks. Kirk should feast against a Steelers defense allowing the most schedule-adjusted points to wide receivers this year.

šŸ¦ TE Trey McBride ($4,700 FD/$2,800 DK)

Zach Ertzā€™s usage has waned in recent weeks and he then landed on IR going into Week 8. That opens the door for Trey McBride, whose usage has been ascending, even before Etzā€™s injury. The matchup is a tough one and Joshua Dobbs has struggled in recent weeks, but McBride is the most obvious punt play on the slate.

Week 8 Contrarian Plays

Every week, 4for4 produces some of the most accurate DFS ownership projections in the industry. Using this ownership as a guide can point us to the best contrarian options to use in GPPs on both FanDuel and DraftKings.

ā QB Dak Prescott ($7,300 FD/$6,100 DK)

Tony Pollard is expected to be one of the most popular plays on the slate but the Rams are a pass-funnel defenseā€”LA ranks ninth in schedule-adjusted points to running backs but 21st against quarterbacks. With the fourth-highest team total on the slate (26), if touchdowns go through Prescott instead of Pollard, the Cowboysā€™ passing game could be one of the best leverage spots on the slate.

šŸ—½ RB Saquon Barkley ($8,100 FD/ $8,000 DK)

Only one player is averaging more touches per game than Saquon Barkley this year but Barkleyā€™s relative inefficiency has made him mostly an afterthought to DFS players. This week, Barkley will face a Jets defense ranked 25th in both schedule-adjusted points allowed to running back and explosive run rate. If Barkley can take advantage, he offers leverage off of Breece Hall on the other side, you should be the highest rostered player on the slate.

šŸ Cooper Kupp ($9,100 FD/$9,000 DK)

After a dud from Kupp last week, he will likely be the least-popular high-salary receiver on the slate. Going against Dallasā€™ banged-up defense makes for the perfect get-right spot at relatively low ownership. The Cowboys have struggled to defend the deep-middle portion of the field, where Matthew Stafford and the Rams prefer to attack.

šŸ–¤šŸ’œ TE Mark Andrews ($7,700 FD/$6,400 DK)

Mark Andrews offers all kinds of leverage this week. If DFS players pay up at tight ends, they are likely to do so for Travis Kelce or TJ Hockenson. Those who pay down will gravitate towards Trey McBride in the same game as Andrews. With Lamar projecting as one of the best quarterback plays on the slate, Andrewsā€™ teammate, Zay Flowers, also figures to be one of the chalkier wide receivers. Against one of the worst defenses in the league, fire up Andrews in GPPs.
