Top Cash Game Values and GPP Contrarian Plays for Week 17
The Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter is now coming to your inbox seven days a week throughout the NFL season! In this Saturday edition, we’ll cover the top DFS values and contrarian plays for Week 17, and of course the happenings over at 4for4.
Using 4for4’s powerful DFS Value Reports, I’ll highlight the top DFS value plays at each position.
Week 17 Value Plays
🦅 QB Jalen Hurts ($9,200 FD/$8,300 DK)
There are a plethora of low-salary options available at quarterback this week but Jalen Hurts still projects as 4for4’s top value at the position on both sites. Hurts’ rushing floor has made him a staple in cash games all season. He has an inflated ceiling this week against a Cardinals defense that allows the 10th-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Philadelphia is one of two teams on the slate with a team total of at least 30 points.
⛏ RB Christian McCaffrey ($11,000 FD/$9,600 DK)
If there is ever a spot to be salary-agnostic on a player, it’s this one. The best running back in the league is facing the worst defense against the position, according to schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed. San Francisco is favored by nearly two touchdowns and McCaffrey’s fantasy projection is seven DK points higher than any other running back on the slate. Lock Hurts and CMC in cash this week and figure out the rest.
❤ WR Rashee Rice ($7,400 FD/$6,900 DK)
Since Week 12, only two players (A.J. Brown and CeeDee Lamb) have more targets than Rashee Rice, who is fantasy’s WR5 in that span (DK points). Even so, Rice is priced comfortably outside the top 10 players at his position on both sites, projecting as 4for4’s top value on DraftKings. Rice gets arguably his easiest matchup since taking over as Kansas City’s WR1, as Cincinnati ranks 25th in schedule-adjusted points allowed to wide receivers.
⚡ TE Gerald Everett ($5,300 FD/$3,500 DK)
Easton Stick has zeroed in on Gerald Everett as his primary target, offering Everett 22% of team targets, resulting in three straight games with eight targets for the Chargers tight end. With Keenan Allen and Joshua Palmer out, Everett should be LA’s preferred pass-catcher against a Broncos defense that surrenders the fifth-most schedule-adjusted points to the position.

Week 17 Contrarian Plays
Every week, 4for4 produces some of the most accurate DFS ownership projections in the industry. Using this ownership as a guide can point us to the best contrarian options to use in GPPs on both FanDuel and DraftKings.
🐃 QB Josh Allen ($8,8000 FD/$8,200 DK)
Among the high-salary quarterbacks on this slate, Josh Allen projects as the one with the lowest ownership despite a ceiling projection near the top. Buffalo’s 27-point team total is the third-highest on the slate and Allen has dominated the Patriots in recent matchups.
🐴 RB Jonathan Taylor ($8,400 FD/$7,300 DK)
Zamir White is expected to be one of the most popular running backs in the slate while Jonathan Taylor goes mostly overlooked in the same game. In a spot where the Colts are home favorites against a Raiders defense allowing the eight-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to running backs. Taylor is a tremendous leverage play and possibly a price pivot off of Kyren Williams if Williams is heavily owned.
⛏ WR Deebo Samuel ($8,800 FD/$7,700 DK)
In a spot where every relevant 49ers player can hit their absolute ceiling, ownership will likely land on McCaffrey, Aiyuk, and Kittle, leaving Deebo as the key to unlock 49ers stacks. The Commanders are the only defense ranked outside the top 20 in schedule-adjusted points allowed to every position.
🐮 TE Dalton Schultz ($6,200 FD/$4,300 DK)
C.J. Stroud is expected to return in Week 17 in a matchup with a Titan defense that can be beaten through the air. Stacking Stroud with Nico Collins is quite expensive but Schultz offers some salary relief for those who want to build around the Texans’ passing game. Schultz is coming off of an 11-target game and as gained at least 58 yards in each of his last two contests.
