🥈Draft These Undervalued NFL WR2s

Plus Dynasty Info and Minicamp Pics

In today’s newsletter, I give out some WR2s ripe for overproducing, share some minicamp hype, and get some dynasty love from our friends at DLF.

Second fiddles in their respective WR rooms like Jaylen Waddle, Cooper Kupp, and DeVonta Smith are leaving draft boards by Round 3. However, a group of WR2s is currently undervalued heading into the 2024 season with the potential to outproduce their middle-round ADPs. Here’s a look at some of my favorites.

Jameson Williams (🦁) - ADP WR48, 8.01

It’s been a challenging two-year NFL career for Williams but he’s set to take on more volume in 2024 and should be the team’s WR2 behind Amon-Ra St. Brown. Detroit HC Dan Campbell labeled him a “man on a mission” and the most improved player during spring camp. 4for4 Rank: WR46

Rashid Shaheed (⚜️) - ADP WR55, 10.04

The speedster is set up for a solid 2024. Shaheed’s big-play ability (14th in catches over 20 yards) is perfect for best ball formats, and with a likely more meaningful role behind Chris Olave, the 25-year-old has WR3/4 potential for the price of a WR5. 4for4 Rank: WR51

Jakobi Meyers (🏴‍☠️) - ADP WR58, 11.02

His QB situation is less than ideal, but Meyers still managed a WR25 finish in half-PPR points per contest last season under similar circumstances. With either Aidan O’Connell or Gardner Minshew under center the points may not be as consistent behind Davante Adams, but a fantasy WR3 campaign is well within his realm of possibilities. 4for4 Rank: WR53

Brandin Cooks (🤠) - ADP WR60, 11.06

Cooks was the WR36 in overall half-PPR points last year, thanks to a post-bye week surge when the Cowboys finally got cooking. Likely fighting for second in targets with TE Jake Ferguson behind CeeDee Lamb, Cooks has the ability to end the season much higher than his current draft stock, particularly in any PPR format. 4for4 Rank: WR50

Honorable Mention: Jerry Jeudy (🐶) - ADP WR59, 11.05

With many rookie drafts in the books, the pre-Training Camp weeks can be spent manicuring dynasty rosters in an effort to grow into a true title contender in the fall. Part of that pruning should include removing Roster Cloggers from your roster. Roster Cloggers are players with little upside, no trade value, and a slim chance of ever cracking a fantasy starting lineup.

Recently, I outlined several Roster Cloggers that are safe to drop from your dynasty rosters. Here are some highlights…

Tank Bigsby, RB JAX

It is rare to give up on a Day Two running back just one year into his career, but that’s how bad Bigsby’s rookie season was. Early in the year, the Jags gave the rookie a shot at a significant role. He responded with a pair of rushing touchdowns in the first three weeks of the year but he was simply so inefficient in all aspects that the team eventually went with veteran D’Ernest Johnson as the primary backup to Travis Etienne. Bigsby saw only four targets all season, catching one of them, and had a season-high of 32 rushing yards.

When I started planning and researching this article, Toney was the first player I thought of as a Roster Clogger. The Giants gave up on Toney early in his career after using a first-round pick to acquire him and he’s been a total tease playing with Patrick Mahomes and the Super Bowl champion Chiefs. Toney has been an all-around disappointment and has had trouble staying on the field as well. Toney didn’t eclipse double-digit fantasy points in a single game last season and then the Chiefs added Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy.

It’s that time of year when a camp or workout photo gets the fantasy community lathered up to overdraft a player. Here are this week’s entries.

  • Patriots WR Demario “Pop” Douglas showed some promise last season with four contests over 50 receiving yards and a few others that came close. New England added two rookies to the WR room in April, Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker, so it looks like Pop is stepping things up by running uphill barefoot.

  • One day he’ll be telling his grandkids about back in 2024 when he ran uphill both ways barefoot in the snow to catch passes.

  • He’s not a fantasy-relevant player, but Von Miller’s quad is arguably bigger than some small countries.

  • And here’s Patrick Mahomes perhaps working on his second sport just in case football doesn’t work out for him.

  • I know it’s not the point of this video, but David Njoku looks pretty jacked here which doesn’t hurt his chances of a projected top-10 TE season.
