🤨 Fantasy Redemption Seekers

A dynasty segment, too

Welcome to this week’s Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter. It’s almost NFL Draft time, but for now, let’s talk some fantasy football.

We have one more week until the 2025 NFL Draft, so things are a bit slow outside of the rookie rumor mill. I thought a detour was in order, so here’s a look at some of the players with the most to prove from a fantasy perspective this season.

CJ. Stroud, Texans - Stroud was the QB5 in ADP during draft season, coming off a stellar rookie campaign. Despite plenty of weaponry, the 23-year-old finished 2024 as the QB33 in per-game scoring, averaging just 13.0 fantasy points per contest. He’s currently the QB18 in early Underdog drafts.

Dak Prescott, Cowboys - Dak got paid in 2024 but did not deliver last season. His completion rate dipped to 64.7%, and he threw for only 1,978 yards and 11 touchdowns with eight picks in eight contests before a Week 9 hamstring injury shut him down for the year. Prescott ended as the QB26 in fantasy points per game (14.6) in those eight tilts. Early Underdog drafters are taking him as the QB17.

Anthony Richardson, Colts - The fall for Richardson has been staggering to watch. He was the sixth QB drafted last season and ended as QB25 in both overall and fantasy points per game. Heading into 2025, he’s competing with Daniel Jones for the starting job with a spring ADP of QB28.

Breece Hall, Jets - The 23-year-old began his pro career red-hot, averaging 5.8 yards per carry before a torn ACL cut short his first season after just seven contests, and he hasn't produced the same since returning. Hall has stayed healthy and been on the field for 33 games in the last two years, but his yards per carry dropped to 4.5 in 2023 and 4.2 last season. Hall’s efficiency in the passing game has also slipped, going from 11.5 yards per reception in his rookie year to 8.1 over the past two combined. He was the second RB off draft boards last season and ended as the RB18, and had subsequently fallen to RB18 in early best ball drafts.

Marvin Harrison Jr., Cardinals - The hype was enormous surrounding MHJ heading into his rookie campaign, and he was the WR9 in ADP. Things didn’t exactly pan out as expected, and the newbie posted a 62-885-8 line as the WR42 in half-PPR scoring on a per-game basis in 2024. A bounce back to earth in expectations and a year under his belt could mean some value for MHJ drafters, as his ADP currently sits at WR18.

Rome Odunze, Bears - While this rookie wasn’t as hyped fantasy-wise, he was the No. 9 overall pick in the NFL Draft last season and only caught 54 balls on 101 targets for 734 yards and three touchdowns. There was a log jam in the WR room, and with Keenan Allen no longer in the mix, things should work out better for Odunze in 2025. He finished his rookie year as the WR66 with just 6.9 half-PPR points per contest and is being selected as the WR26 on Underdog right now.

The NFL Draft is nearly here! We’re just over a week away and dynasty managers continue to cram to prepare for everything that might happen next weekend. We have all studied the film and the data, considered the ideal landing spots and mocked out every possible scenario. There’s always room for more information though. In his latest, DLF’s Kyle Trimble took a look at some key incoming rookie quarterbacks in the 2025 class who have some injury concerns in their history. Enjoy the full article here: 2025 Rookies With Injury Concerns: Quarterbacks

Here’s what Kyle had to say about a pair of potential first-round quarterbacks.

Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

2023 – Right wrist contusion, vs Washington State, missed zero games.

2023 – Vertebral fracture, missed 1 game.

Sanders has been relatively healthy throughout his career, except for 2023, when he suffered two injuries that ended his season early. He suffered a wrist contusion that led to difficulty in gripping the football against Washington State. He would have been able to play in the season finale against Utah but missed due to a vertebral fracture in his back. It wasn’t clear when he suffered that injury but between the back and wrist, he was unable to play.

Both of those injuries are minor, and it’s important to note that he had a healthy 2024 season. As the #2 QB and #23 overall in DLF dynasty rookie rankings, there shouldn’t be any hesitation in drafting him. Much like Ward, his health may be dictated by how good of an offensive line he is behind wherever he is drafted.

Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

2021 USC – Right knee meniscus surgery, vs Washington State, missed four games.

2024 Ole Miss – Left ankle sprain, vs Georgia, missed zero games.

Dart has a relatively short injury history, with his only notable concern being the right knee injury. Reports initially stated that he would be out indefinitely due to the meniscus needing to be repaired. However, it appears that he had the meniscus trimmed instead of repaired, leading to him missing just four games.

There are concerns with arthritic changes when a meniscus is trimmed versus repaired, but the area he tore may have been in a location with poor healing potential, or the tear was small enough that it wasn’t worth repairing. His right knee is his back leg when throwing, which will see less stress through throwing when compared to his left leg. Add in the fact that he plays quarterback, I have minimal concerns for his longevity.

He is currently the #3 QB and #33 overall in the DLF dynasty rookie rankings. If he is your guy, draft with confidence. His success or failures may be more tied to the team that drafts him.
