🗑️ Late-Round TE Finds

also some dynasty ADP

It’s May 14th, and why not go over some late-round TE gems in best ball formats, and we’ll also get a dynasty nugget courtesy of our friends at Dynasty League Football.

The lack of depth at the tight end position for fantasy football purposes has been a very popular topic in recent years, so it got me thinking about whether or not it’s been that way for a while or if it really has gotten much worse. I looked back at the number of double-digit scoring tight ends in half-PPR points per game since 2013, and this is what I found.

The average number of tight ends who produced double-digit half-PPR numbers on a weekly basis was 7.4 from 2013-2017 and dropped down to 6.0 from 2018-2024. While 2019 appeared to be an outlier thanks to boom seasons from Jared Cook, Austin Hooper, and Will Dissly, the output from the position was on a decline, but now appears to be possibly trending upwards.

On to this season and who we should be targeting after the elite tier of Brock Bowers, Trey McBride, and George Kittle are gone. I’m a late-round TE gal, so the focus will be on the potential steals in 2025, not the middle-of-the-road guys.

🐆 Brenton Strange, Jags (Drafters ADP: TE20, 14.06) Evan Engram is gone, and in comes Strange. He actually led the Jags’ TE room in total half-PPR points last season and could be a sneaky sleeper for those late round TE hounds. 4for4 Rank: TE17

✈️ Mason Taylor, Jets (Drafters ADP: TE24, 15.09) With a clear path to targets behind Garrett Wilson, the RBs, and Josh Reynolds, Taylor is i n a great spot for success right away. The Jets’ OC Tanner Engstrand spent the last two years with the Lions as their passing game coordinator, so we can look to the success of Sam LaPorta as a possible guidepost. With Justin Fields under center, their offense may lend itself more towards Taylor. While it doesn't always translate between teams, when Fields was under center in Chicago in 2022, Cole Kmet led the team in both targets and receiving yards.

🦅 Dallas Goedert, Eagles (Drafters ADP: TE16, 12.09) While Goedert isn’t your traditional-looking sleeper, he’s dropped in value since the rumor mill had him traded or cut in the offseason. Instead, he took a $4 million pay cut and is still in Philly for 2025. As the TE16 in early best ball drafts, he could produce as a fantasy TE1 if things break well health-wise for the 30-year-old.

Our May dynasty startup ADP data is nearly ready to be shared over at Dynasty League Football. But before we put the finishing touches on that and it goes live, I wanted to give you a sneak peek at what you’ll see. Since this is our first full ADP data set post-NFL Draft, let’s focus on the rookies.

Here’s a look at the dynasty startup (1QB) ADP for the top rookies, including the other players drafted around them, for reference.
