🎯 Late-Round Dart Throws
Plus Some Bizarre New NFL Eats
This edition of the Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter goes over players to look out for later in drafts and gets the stomach juices flowing with some NFL eats 🍕.
We’ve reached draft frenzy time with the bulk of fantasy drafts happening this weekend into next week. Here’s a handy list of my favorite late-round stabs to target at the end of drafts, based on 12-team leagues.

Rounds 12-15
🎯 Joshua Palmer, WR (LAC) - Palmer emerged as a decent contributor last year while Mike Williams and Keenan Allen were sidelined, averaging 10.6 fantasy points per game in their absence. It will likely be Palmer and rookie Ladd McConkey as the top target earners for the Chargers, but this offense should lean more run-heavy than in previous years. He’s the 56th WR off draft boards but is ranked as 4for4’s WR45 in half-PPR scoring. presenting some value as a fantasy WR4/5.
🎯 Rico Dowdle, RB (DAL)- He’s looking like the favorite to lead the Cowboys in rushing in 2024 and is very affordable with an aggregate ADP of 135. Dowdle is leaving draft boards as an RB4 and could easily post RB2 numbers if he can run away from Elliott with the job.
🎯 Jaleel McLaughlin, RB (DEN) - He was explosive when he had the ball as a rookie, ranking 12th in yards after contact per carry among RBs with at least 75 attempts, and first in rushing yards over expected per carry with that same group (5.38). Sean Payton’s RBs are perenially a big part of his offenses and last season he made it a point to involve McLaughlin in the passing game, as the rookie led Denver backs in targets per route run at 37%. This situation is still unfolding but after a disappointing 2023 from Javonte Williams, we could see more work for McLaughlin, making him a value right now at pick 150, particularly in any PPR scoring format.
🎯 Dontayvion Wicks, WR (GB) - Wicks took advantage of all opportunities as a rookie, and despite being a fifth-round pick by the Packers, was among the top freshmen in yards per route run and targets per route run. That sneak peek into his usage potential with Jordan Love is enough to take a stab late in drafts since he’s the lowest-cost option among Green Bay’s young and inexperienced WR room with an aggregate ADP of 144.
🎯 Demario Douglas, WR (NE) - The New England offense isn't the sexiest for fantasy purposes, or even for NFL viewing if we’re being real. However, Demario Douglas was a surprise bright spot last season and led the offense in receiving yards (561) and target share (14%). He was deemed “by far the Patriots’ best and most explosive playmaker in practice this spring” by Chad Graff of The Athletic and is continuing to show out at training camp. The Patriots drafted two rookie WRs in 2024 which doesn't exactly help in the volume department, but with a new QB room and an ADP of WR67 as a 14th-rounder, Pop Douglas is worth that dart throw.

A companion to the actual NFL game is, of course, the food. Here’s a look at a few of the more interesting new culinary options around the league.

🍕🍔 Pizza Burger - It’s a 16-ounce Angus beef patty with pepperoni pizzas for buns. You also get lettuce, tomato, marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella.
🍨🌽 Fritos Sundae - Sweet and salty fans can have both with vanilla ice cream topped with cinnamon, sugar, caramel, chocolate syrup, sprinkles, and Fritos.
State Farm Stadium
