🏈 Monday Morning NFL Fantasy Recap 🏈
★⭐️ Puka Shells out Another Huge Game ★⭐️
After a Week 1 full of injuries and disappointment, Week 2 promised to deliver us a week of promise as we were destined to see if last week’s player performances were something to expect or total mirages. We got just that and may have just found a new fantasy superstar in the process!
The Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter is now coming to your inbox seven days a week throughout the NFL season, and I’m bringing you the Monday recap each and every week. For those of you who don’t know me, I helped create DynastyLeagueFootball back in 2006 and have been writing about fantasy football for nearly 20 years. I truly love this time of year, so let’s get to it!
As I mentioned, there were some serious storylines that developed in Week 2. As always, I’ll bring you some of the headlines you could easily see today as the fantasy world reacts.
You Make us Want to Puka
There is no bigger story in fantasy leagues than the start of Rams rookie receiver Puka Nacua, who had a whopping 15 catches for 147 yards after catching ten passes for 119 yards in the opener. Targets will certainly start decreasing when Cooper Kupp returns but this is significant as Nacua has more catches in his first two games than anyone in NFL history. Many fantasy owners are simply sick to their stomachs as few drafted Nacua in their leagues and he fell to the late rounds in dynasty league drafts as well. He’s here to stay, folks.
Big and Rich
Anthony Richardson is here. While it was disappointing to see him leave with concussion symptoms, it’s clear we have a player at the helm of the Colts who has nearly unlimited fantasy potential. He’s going to need to learn how to protect himself better and recover from a potential concussion but Richardson is here to stay and his two early rushing touchdowns showed us he has legit ability in fantasy and reality.
Tee it Up
Tee Higgins famously posted a goose egg last week, so his eight-catch, 89-yard, two-touchdown performance was a nice bounce-back performance. While his normal game lines are likely going to fall in between his Week 1 dud and this dominant day, this was yet another indication Higgins really does have WR1 talent.
Endless Love
Jordan Love is doing just fine, gang. The Packers had to be nervous to turn the franchise over to just their third quarterback in the past 30 years but Love now has six touchdowns and no interceptions through two weeks. If you need a starter in a fantasy league, Love is putting numbers worthy of consideration.
Green Akers
Cam Akers has officially lost his job. After being declared inactive this week, the Rams are reportedly going to attempt to find a trade partner for him and move on. They may or may not find that but it’s obvious Kyren Williams (52 rushing yards, six catches, 48 receiving yards, and two touchdowns) is the new lead back in LA and fantasy owners need to respond accordingly.
Houston, We Have a Solution
The Texans have not only found their quarterback in CJ Stroud but Tank Dell and Nico Collins have both emerged as legitimate options in fantasy leagues. Houston may trail a lot this year and both of these receivers should be considered at this point moving forward.
After a crazy week one that wiped out Aaron Rodgers and JK Dobbins, we entered week two just hoping our fantasy teams would not only perform but also stay healthy. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen.
Anthony Richardson was knocked out of the game with a concussion and we’ll have to see just what happens with him this week.
David Montgomery was carted off with a thigh injury and that could open the door for Jahmyr Gibbs moving forward.
Saquon Barkley suffered what looked to be an ankle injury and this is going to be a story to watch. It looks like it could be pretty tough for him to return by Thursday but we’ll wait and see.

This is an odd year where we get a Monday Night doubleheader in Week 2 instead of on opening weekend. It’s a great treat for us as there are a number of fantasy-relevant questions we want answered tonight as we watch the Saints and Panthers followed by the Browns and Steelers.
Will Michael Thomas continue to look like the Thomas of old? It’s still very early but he looked healthy last week and that would be a huge development in fantasy leagues.
Can Bryce Young create some momentum? The Panthers offense wasn’t impressive last week and we’re going to need to see them protect Young better than they did if anyone on this team can be used in fantasy lineups.
Will anyone establish themselves as a possible complement to Alvin Kamara? The Saints signed Jamaal Williams in the off-season but he had just 45 yards on 18 carries last week. With Kamara off for two more weeks, we need to see more to believe this will be a time-share when AK comes back.
Is Rashid Shaheed for real? We saw some flashes of talent last year but few expected Shaheed to open up with a 5/89/1 game in week one. If he’s really developed this much, it’s huge for Derek Carr and relevant in fantasy leagues.
Is Najee Harris in trouble already? An awful week one destroyed fantasy managers as Harris couldn’t get anything going. With Jaylen Warren waiting in the wings, the time is now for Harris to step up or we could be looking at a disaster.
Can Deshaun Watson build upon a decent opener? We still haven’t seen vintage Watson as of yet and the Browns would love to open up the offense at some point. Will that start to happen tonight?
It should be a fun one!
