🗞️ Monday Morning NFL Recap

Riddle Me This!

The Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter comes to your inbox seven days a week throughout the NFL season, and I bring you the Monday recap each and every week. For those of you who don’t know me, I helped create DynastyLeagueFootball back in 2006 and have been writing about fantasy football for nearly 20 years.

I truly love this time of year, so let’s get to it!

As always, there were some serious storylines that developed in Week 11. Let’s take a look at some of the headlines you could easily see today as the fantasy world reacts.

Riddle Me This

Fantasy owners were given a ton of hope after week one when Calvin Ridley came back from his gambling suspension to post eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown in his Jacksonville debut, The problem has been the lack of production since as Ridley had just one other touchdown all season and had eclipsed the 100-yard mark just one other time as well. This week was a different story as he posted seven catches for 103 yards and two scores for the Jaguars on Sunday. While we need to see more, a healthy and productive Ridley would be huge for fantasy managers moving forward.

Hopes Warren-ted

The Steelers made news this week when they named Jaylen Warren their starting running back, While he was still out-touched 13-12 by Najee Harris, Warren was again the more explosive runner as he busted a 74-yard touchdown scamper en route to 129 rushing yards on just nine carries. While Harris isn’t going away, it’s clear Warren is the better play moving forward this year.

All Bark and a Little Bite

The Giants have been really bad but at least they have Saquon Barkley. The all-world running back is still working hard and while he was bottled up for most of the first half, he was still able to muster 83 rushing yards, four catches, 57 rushing yards, and score two touchdowns through the air. Nobody on the Giants is really reliable outside of Barkley but today showed he still belongs in lineups regardless of playing behind an offensive line that resembles a stack of wet paper towels.

Tank you very Much

Tank Dell has been a revelation this year and had another eight catches for 149 yards and a touchdown in the Texans’ win against Arizona - that makes nine games played for Dell in his rookie season and five of them that have yielded at least 19.9 fantasy points. He's also averaged nearly 25 ppg over the past three weeks, establishing himself as a weekly no-brainer in fantasy leagues. While he clearly benefited from Noah Brown missing the game this week, Dell has shown speed, explosiveness, and playmaking ability that should stick in the long term.

Young and the Restless

Bryce Young completed 16-of-29 passes for 123 yards with one touchdown and one interception in a loss against Dallas. He hasn't had much of a chance with the porous offensive line of the Panthers but Young also hasn't done much to impress this season. The success of C.J. Stroud has made things look worse for Young so far but he’s off the radar for anyone who isn’t throwing darts at a streaming option. The Panthers invested heavily in Young and may be rethinking their investment at this point.

As always, there were injuries destined to affect fantasy leagues.

Aaron Jones went down with a knee injury that seemed to be serious and forced him to be carted to the locker room. The Packers are saying it’s not a long-term issue but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

De’Von Achane was welcomed back by fantasy owners this week but lasted only four plays until he was knocked out again. The good news is he lobbied to get back into the game and was seen on the sidelines during most of the second half.

Kenneth Walker suffered an oblique injury that is reportedly going to cost him some time. Zach Charbonnet becomes a weekly starter until he returns.

Cooper Kupp suffered yet another ankle injury and had just one catch against the Seahawks before leaving. At this point, it’s fair to wonder just how healthy he’s going to be this season.

For those of you in IDP leagues, it looks like Joey Bosa has suffered a significant leg or foot injury. We’ll wait and see but this one looked significant.

The Chiefs and Eagles play in a monster showdown tonight. As always, there are questions we want answered!

1.) Will Travis Kelce bounce back?

With Mark Andrews out for the season, Travis Kelce could provide a monster advantage for teams moving forward this season, joining TJ Hockenson as the only truly elite options at the position. How will he respond to his clunker last game?

2.) Will D’Andre Swift return to form?

After a monster game against Miami in week two, Swift has been good but not great the rest of the way, failing to eclipse 20 fantasy points in any contest since. Can he break from the pack and get back to “must start” territory?
