🗞️ Monday Morning NFL Recap

Riddle me this!

The Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter comes to your inbox seven days a week throughout the NFL season, and I bring you the Monday recap each and every week. For those of you who don’t know me, I helped create DynastyLeagueFootball back in 2006 and have been writing about fantasy football for nearly 20 years.

I truly love this time of year, so let’s get to it!

As always, there were some serious storylines that developed in Week 10. Let’s take a look at some of the headlines you could easily see today as the fantasy world reacts.

There will be no Silencing of this Lamb

Wow. CeeDee Lamb went nuts yet again and put up 11 catches for 151 yards and scored two touchdowns (one on the ground) against the New York Giants. After fellow NFC East receiver A.J. Brown set the record for consecutive games with at least 125 receiving yards, Lamb has one-upped him with three straight games with at least 10 catches AND 150 receiving yards. Incredible.

Never Gonna Gibbs you up

After a quiet start to his rookie season, Jahmyr Gibbs has finally arrived. On Sunday, he put up 77 rushing yards, caught three passes for 35 receiving yards, and scored twice - that makes three straight games with at least 25 fantasy points for the former first-round pick. David Montgomery was back this week but Gibbs still played at an elite level and that’s a huge story. The window to trade for him this year has officially closed.

What can Brown do for you?

A week after a six-catch, 153-yard performance against Tampa Bay, Noah Brown caught seven more passes on Sunday for a whopping 172 receiving yards. While we may not be able to trust him as a must-start moving forward, he has the looks of the waiver wire pickup of the year at the moment. Having a piece of this offense isn’t a bad idea and he’ll be on rosters in 100% of leagues after proving last week was no mirage.

Dethroned

Derrick Henry is an amazing football player but the Titans offense is clearly holding him back. After a dismal 24 yards on 11 carries, Henry’s spot as the King is clearly in jeopardy. With just 19 catches on the season and more than 20 fantasy points in just one contest this week, Henry is looking much more like an RB2 than an elite fantasy asset at the moment.

Howell at the Moon

Say what you will about the Commanders but Sam Howell is turning into a very consistent fantasy quarterback. After throwing for 312 yards and three more touchdowns at Seattle, Howell now has six “Boom” games this year and only two true “Busts” on his resume. It may not be pretty all the time for this team but he’s an easy trade target for teams in need of a quarterback and more interested in numbers than names.

As always, there were injuries destined to affect fantasy leagues. However, this week was eerily quiet and fantasy managers won’t complain as a result. Let’s review some of the notable ones.

Taylor Heinicke left the Falcons game with a hamstring injury. He wasn’t great in general but he’ll at least have the bye to get better.

Alexander Mattison suffered a concussion in the Vikings’ win against the Saints. He’ll need to be cleared early in the week for fantasy managers to feel good about having him in lineups since the Vikings play on Sunday night next week.

Derek Carr left the same game against Minnesota with a concussion. He reportedly hopes to be back after the upcoming bye week for the Saints and Jameis Winston was nightmarish enough for the Saints to rush Carr back as soon as possible.

The Broncos and Bills battle tonight in a matchup featuring two common midwestern animals with a buffalo battling a horse. You would think this matchup (much like one in real life) would favor the Bills. However, this offense has been stuck in neutral. There are two big questions to answer tonight from a fantasy perspective as well.

1.) Will James Cook ever really become a factor?

Cook was supposed to become an elite option in fantasy leagues but that just hasn’t materialized yet as he’s posted single-digit fantasy points in four of his last five games. To make things worse, the Bills brought in Leonard Fournette to help boost the running game. If Cook doesn’t get going, it’s going to be a huge concern moving forward.

2.) Can the Broncos get their receivers going?

The Broncos are playing better and sit at 3-5 on the season. The problem from a fantasy perspective is the lack of production from their receiving corps. Through last week, Courtland Sutton was the WR29 and Jerry Jeudy the WR58. That’s just not going to cut it and fantasy managers are getting very impatient here.
