Injury roundup and some dynasty

We’re so close to NFL action that actually counts! This edition of the Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter recaps the preseason thus far and delivers some injury news. 🤕

Here are some fantasy-relevant takeaways from the second week of the preseason as we get ready for upcoming drafts. All ADP is courtesy of 4for4’s Multisite ADP Tool.

🌊 Zach Charbonnet showed why I can’t stop drafting him: He’s been a favorite zero RB target of mine since entering the league, and it seems he’s still in a great spot to produce. With Kenneth Walker still sidelined, Charbonnet had five carries for 45 yards on the opening drive, showcasing his excellent vision and burst on a 15-yard TD. With Walker's injury history, grabbing the dependable Charbs at RB39 (119) could be highly impactful.

🏴‍☠️ Rookie Ashton Jeanty is a bruiser as advertised: Bouncing back from a lackluster first outing, Jeanty carried the ball seven times for 33 yards and a touchdown on Saturday. He took a shot to his right shoulder in the first quarter and went into the medical tent, but on the next series ran over 49er CB Deommodore Lenoir on his way to a 13-yard gain, then topped off the drive by charging his way into the end zone from the 1-yard line.

🎖️ TreVeyon Henderson is still scoring TDs: The rookie followed up a 100-yard return touchdown in the first preseason game with an eight-yard score on Saturday. His total numbers for the night were 20 yards on four carries in two series with the first team. Henderson has climbed in ADP by 10 draft spots and three positional spots since last week, leaving boards as the RB19 at pick 50.

🏴‍☠️ Emeka Egbuka showed why he was drafted 19th overall in 2025: The rookie perpetuated his impressive camp with a sliding grab as he fell down to his knees for a 5-yard score. With Chris Godwin’s return date still TBD, Egbuka could start the season in the slot and is still a decent value at WR45 (8.10).

🍔 It may be Roman Wilson time: I have been lightly beating the drum for the sophomore this whole offseason, and with Calvin Austin out with an abdominal injury, Wilson caught two passes for 72 yards for Pittsburgh. He’s been competing with Austin for the WR2 role behind DK Metcalf, and has a decent shot for fantasy relevancy at the bargain price of WR91.

  • WR Jalen McMillan (neck) was placed on IR after suffering a “severely sprained neck” against the Steelers and could be out past the Bucs Week 9 bye week.

  • WR Curtis Samuel (hamstring) participated in team drills for the first time since his injury on Tuesday.

  • QB Matthew Stafford (back) practiced for the second consecutive day and is trending up, according to HC Sean McVay.

  • WR Tyreek Hill (oblique) was seen catching passes off the JUGS machine but did not practice, NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported.

Off-season. Regular season. Playoffs. It doesn’t matter. Any part of the year is a good time to identify, target and acquire underrated players in a dynasty league. We’re nearly to the time of year that fantasy managers everywhere will be submitting a lineup for the first time in months. As you do that, you might find that you’re a player or two short. In his latest, Patrick Martin shares his opinions on The Ten Most Underrated Players in Dynasty Leagues.

Here are Patrick’s thoughts on one of those potential bargains…

1QB 90 Overall WR47

A roller coaster of a career has seen Ridley’s 1QB ADP range from anywhere between 15 overall in October 2021 to outside the top 140 players in July of 2022. For the first time in half a decade I am confident in declaring him an undervalued player. Typically, players turning 31 years of age prior to the end of the upcoming season do not find their way onto undervalued articles, but with a WR47 ranking, Ridley will be a cost-effective producer for win-now dynasty managers.

DLF’s ADP History – Calvin Ridley.

Fresh off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, Ridley enters his second year in Brian Callahan’s offense with a QB upgrade in the form of number 1 overall pick, Cam Ward. Ward may not be a proven commodity, but he can’t be much worse than the duo of Will Levis and Mason Rudolph. The eye test on those players is confirmed by both players being graded outside the top 30 in PFF’s QB 2024 rankings. Ridley produced despite being saddled with poor QB play, but the state of the Titans’ defense has me bullish on Ridley as well, as the team surrendered the third-most points to opposing offenses in 2024. To their credit, the front office did address the defense in both the draft and free agency, but if this new group can’t come together quickly, it will create an environment where Tennessee is involved in more shootouts than we are currently expecting. That is music to the ears of dynasty managers in need of a veteran to help bring home the hardware in 2025.
