šŸ§³ QBs On the Move

Plus NFL News and Minicamp Pics

In todayā€™s newsletter, I dive into QB movement from 2023 to now, plus I cover some of the latest around the league.

The QB position isnā€™t one with a ton of variance from year to year but we do have several signal callers who have risen or fallen in both ADP and ranks from August of 2023. Here are the QBs with the biggest changes, and a look at why theyā€™ve moved.

QB Risers šŸ“ˆ

C.J. Stroud, HOU (2023 ADP: QB26)

4for4 Rank: QB5, Current ADP: QB5 Thanks to a QB9 finish in fantasy points per game in his rookie year, along with the addition of even more powerful offensive weapons in Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon this offseason, Stroud has risen 21 positional spots in both rank and ADP in 2024.

Anthony Richardson, IND (2023 ADP: QB15)

4for4 Rank: QB6, Current ADP: QB6 We only got four contests out of Richardson last season but he averaged 18.2 fantasy points per game as the QB11 in that category. His dual-threat ability makes him dangerous in both real and fake football and he has QB1 upside if everything breaks his way.

Jordan Love, GB (2023 ADP: QB22)

4for4 Rank: QB9, Current ADP: QB10 Love was so green coming into last season that expectations were quite low. The Packer caught fire from Week 9 on and ended as the QB6 in fantasy points per game. With a young WR corps to throw to and a decent set of wheels, Love is still a really nice value at QB10.

Kyler Murray, ARI (2023 ADP: QB25)

4for4 Rank: QB10, Current ADP: QB8 There were several question marks heading into last year concerning both health and performance for Murray and he crushed them all with a QB10 output in fantasy points per tilt. A bounceback is looking likely with rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. now in Arizona.

QB FallersšŸ“‰

Justin Herbert, LAC (2023 ADP: QB5)

4for4 Rank: QB16, Current ADP: QB17 The LA QB has taken a 12 positional spot tumble from last season in ADP. He did have a down year as the QB13, averaging 17.9 fantasy points per game in the 13 contests he played, and also lost four of his favorite weapons this offseason in Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler, and Gerald Everett. The arm talent and rushing prowess are there, but his fantasy value may be capped by an extremely run-heavy offense.

Justin Fields, PIT (2023 ADP: QB7)

4for4 Rank: QB33, Current ADP: QB29 This 22-spot fall is no surprise to most, but Fields was dealt to the Steelers this offseason and for now, is behind Russell Wilson on the depth chart.

Trevor Lawrence, JAX (2023 ADP: QB8)

4for4 Rank: QB17, Current ADP: QB15 The step forward fantasy managers were hoping to see last year didnā€™t happen but he was effective down the stretch despite losing Christian Kirk for the final five contests. Lawrenceā€™s inconsistencies have caused a drop in rankings and draft capital but he could prove to be a decent value if he can stay the course in 2024.

DeShaun Watson, CLE (2023 ADP: QB12)

4for4 Rank: QB23, Current ADP: QB21 We don't know if the prior version of Watson from his time in Houston will ever emerge again, but after two underwhelming seasons itā€™s not looking likely. Proceed with caution when drafting the soon-to-be 29-year-old.

  • Both CeeDee Lamb and Brandon Aiyuk are not attending their respective teamsā€™ minicamps while seeking new contracts or extensions. Hereā€™s what theyā€™ll have to pay for missing the workouts, which is like $5 for us normies.

  • Meanwhile, both Justin Jefferson and Christian McCaffery got PAID over the last few days. McCaffreyā€™s two-year extension nets him $19 million per year, while Jefferson inked a four-year contract extension worth $140M ($110M guaranteed), making him the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history. Drinks on them!

  • This is not a jacked photo, but instead, itā€™s a video of Patrick Mahomes doing Mahomes things. I know itā€™s just in practice with no pads and no defenders, but itā€™s still fun to see him improvise.

    • Tua Tagovailoa went in the opposite direction than the usual subjects of this segment and lost weight. It could be that he was wearing a flack jacket in the left-hand photo but when asked by NFL Networkā€™s Cameron Wolfe, the Miami QB said ā€œhe lost weight to be more nimble, extend plays. When his WRs were questioned about the weight loss, Tyreek Hill was quoted as saying ā€œI saw Tua at Pro Bowl I was kinda scared. He was fat as shit...How skinny he got, whatā€™s the stuff everybody is taking, Ozempic?ā€. Jaylen Waddleā€™s response was ā€œI told him I miss chubby Tuaā€. šŸ¤£
