⏰ Still-Too-Early Fantasy Mock Draft (Round 1)

NFL News & Dynasty, too

I’m back at the mock draft table this week, taking another crack after a few months to see if anything has changed. Plus, we have some dynasty tea from our friends at Dynasty League Football.

I did a ridiculously early mock draft back in early February and figured it was time for a still-really-early-but-not-so-ridiculously-early version of the first round. Here’s what I had back in February. Let’s see if much has changed in nearly two NFL months.

Early February’s Ridiculously Early Mock Draft

  • 1.01 – Ja’Marr Chase, WR – Bengals 🐯

  • 1.02 – Saquon Barkley, RB – Eagles 🦅

  • 1.03 - Bijan Robinson, RB – Falcons 🪺

  • 1.04 – Justin Jefferson, WR – Vikings 👿

  • 1.05 - Puka Nacua, WR – Rams 🐏

  • 1.06 - Jahmyr Gibbs, RB – Lions 🦁

  • 1.07 – CeeDee Lamb, WR – Cowboys 🤠

  • 1.08 – Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR – Lions 🦁

  • 1.08 – A.J. Brown, WR – Eagles 🦅

  • 1.09 – Derrick Henry, RB - Ravens 🪺

Late-March Still-Really-Early Mock Draft

1.01 - Ja’Marr Chase, WR (CIN) - He was slept on last season, and that won’t happen again. Chase led the league in targets, receptions, yards, and receiving TDs in 2024 and got paid.

1.02 – Bijan Robinson, RB – (ATL) - I think Saquon Barkley and Robinson are interchangeable as the second and third picks next season. Robinson is younger (23), and despite coming in as the RB4 in half-PPR scoring this year, it feels like there’s still more to come from the Falcon.

1.03 – Saquon Barkley, RB – (PHI) - Coming off a 2,000-yard season, Barkley could easily repeat his incredible 2024 campaign thanks to insane talent and a very solid offensive line in Philly.

1.04 – Justin Jefferson, WR – (MIN)- There were concerns about Jefferson with Sam Darnold under center heading into this season, but he ended as the WR2 overall and WR3 in half-PPR points per contest. I assume that this debate will occur again with J.J. McCarthy at the helm, but Jefferson is a top 3 WR regardless of who’s tossing him the ball.

1.05 – Jahmyr Gibbs, RB – (DET) - I moved Gibbs up one spot with Davante Adams now in LA. It does not matter that Gibbs is technically in a timeshare since he can produce RB1 numbers even with a healthy David Montgomery, as she did from Weeks 1-10 in 2024 as the RB5.

1.06 – CeeDee Lamb, WR – (DAL) - Lamb gets a small bump too over Puka Nacua now, too. Even with QB Dak Prescott sidelined for half of the season, Lamb still finished with 1,194 receiving yards as the WR8 in half-PPR scoring. He’s averaged a WR5 finish over the last three seasons and should keep it rolling in 2025.

1.07 – Puka Nacua, WR – (LAR) - After returning from injury in Week 8, Nacua went on to average 16.1 per contest in half-PPR scoring as the WR4 and out-targeted Cooper Kupp 102-73 in that time frame. Adams causes a small ding, but he’s still a top 10 pick.

1.08 – Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR – (DET)- His targets and yardage were down last season, but he did have a career-high 12 touchdowns. St. Brown is part of a high-octane offense that’s not going to slow down anytime soon.

1.09 – Nico Collins, WR – (HOU) - He missed five games in 2024 but still managed to eclipse 1,000 yards. Stefon Diggs is in NE, and Tank Dell will likely miss time due to a brutal knee injury, so Collins should be in for a massive output next season. I moved him up a few spots since January.

1.10 – Derrick Henry, RB – (BAL) - Yes, he’ll be 31 next season but he just produced the near-best numbers of his career. Fade Henry at your own risk.

1.11 – Brock Bowers, TE – (LV) - My love for Bowers was no secret heading into his rookie season, and he proved myself and all others correct with a record-breaking rookie campaign with a highly questionable QB situation in Vegas. He’s first-round material heading into 2025.

1.12 – Brian Thomas Jr., WR – (JAX) - This was a tough call between rookies Thomas and Malik Nabers. Both are worthy of the 1/2 turn after solid starts to their NFL careers with not-so-ideal QB situations. I went with the Jag due to his immense talent and a better overall team.

  • Big-ish if healthy….

  • And Russ Rides to New York.

Over the past three weeks, we’ve seen a ton of movement around the NFL with players finding new homes via free agency, along with a few important trades. In this week’s Monday Mocks series, I ranked the most impactful moves for dynasty purposes.

Here is what I had to say about the most valuable players who have recently changed teams…

1.01 Davante Adams, WR LAR

2024 was a bit of a lost season for Adams, who began the season with the floundering Raiders before being dealt to the Jets, and reunited with his buddy Aaron Rodgers, which did not go well. Despite all of that, Adams still produced more than 17 fantasy points per game and finished as the WR12 on the season. Dynasty managers seem to be ignoring that as his value is tumbling. Just a year ago, Adams was a low-end WR2 per our monthly ADP data and now he sits outside of the top-40 wideouts. Landing a massive two-year, $46 million deal with the Rams and kingmaker Matthew Stafford is perfect for the veteran wideout. Adams is among the biggest winners of the off-season.

1.02 Sam Darnold, QB SEA

Despite a breakout season with the Vikings, it was very clear that Darnold would not be welcomed back in Minnesota. The Vikes are seemingly ready to turn to offense over to JJ McCarthy and Darnold was understandably looking for a massive payday. Ultimately, Darnold landed in Seattle, agreeing to a three-year deal worth over $100 million. Even though he’s coming off a QB7 season in 2024, Darnold’s ADP has not ascended as some may assume. In our latest superflex dynasty ADP, Darnold is just the QB26, one spot behind the man he’ll be replacing, Geno Smith.
