I love this ‘Watchability’ index from our friends over at SumerSports. It’s the last big bye week of the year, with SIX teams on bye, so the schedule is quite manageable. The belle of the Week 13 ball is a rematch of last season’s NFC Championship game between the 49ers and Eagles, and it shouldn’t disappoint.

You can’t really stream running backs or wide receivers, but depending on your league’s size and settings, you can often stream quarterbacks, tight ends, and defenses. Out with the old, in with the new.

I was informed that in 2023, people still play in fantasy leagues with kickers (working to confirm this), but in the meantime, we also have kicker streaming options as well.

My 4for4 teammates cover that for you here.

Our resident projection and rankings alpha, John Paulsen, will bring you his favorite Sneaky Starts & Sleepers each week. He’s pretty good at the whole rankings and projections thing, so it’s worth your time.

If you’re new here, I want to let you in on a little secret.

Giving start/sit advice without context in a newsletter is my own private hell.

I don’t know your league size, scoring, or anything about you.

Despite that, I’m still going to give you a few names that are worth your attention this morning since today’s the day.

Here are a few names that are start-worthy today:

Brock Purdy (QB, 49ers)

A full strength 49ers offense just may be the very best in the game, and the Eagles defense is the worst unit in today’s NFC Championship rematch. It’s always tricky to rely on efficiency over volume, but Purdy might get both in this spot.

Zack Moss (RB, Colts)

If you’re a Zack Moss owner, you probably don’t need to be told to start him this week. He’s been relegated to pure backup running back the past two weeks, but he’s back in the saddle as the Colts every-down running back while JT is on the mend. If you’re into one-game-sample recency bias, he torched the Titans in their first meeting this season.

De’Von Achane (RB, Dolphins)

I think the Dolphins have been extremely cautious with their rookie running back of late. Achane returned against the Raiders a few weeks ago and got dinged up on his first carry. Achane desperately wanted to return, but the coaching staff wasn’t on board and, in fact, held him out again in last week’s game against the Jets. I don’t think we’ll see a 20+ touch game for Achane again this regular season, but he doesn’t need it to be fantasy-relevant.

Rashee Rice (WR, Chiefs)

The Chiefs haven’t fully unleashed their rookie wide receiver yet, but we’re getting closer to a full-time receiver workload each week. Rice is coming off of multiple career highs in last week’s matchup against the Raiders, and I don’t think they can put the toothpaste back into the tube at this point. Let Rice cook!

Jameson Williams (WR, Lions)

Like Rice, Williams's route participation numbers are climbing, and he ran a season-high 31 routes in last week’s Thanksgiving game against the Packers. The coaching staff has been heaping praise on Williams’s recent performance and work in practice, and it’s translating into more opportunities on game day. Against a depleted Saints defense, I like Jamo a lot this week.

Brevin Jordan (TE, Texans)

Texans starting tight end Dalton Shultz is out, which is unfortunate for his owners because the Broncos have been routinely gashed by tight ends all season long. Jordan is an athletic move tight end who’ll likely see more of the passing game work, while Eric Saubert handles more of the in-line and blocking responsibilities.

Now for the bad news. You might have to start these guys, but if you have decent options, I’d SIT ‘EM. This is more a group of players where I’m lower than the consensus is this week:

Matthew Stafford (QB, Rams)

The Rams looked like world-beaters last week against the Cardinals and had a different gear offensively with Kyren Williams back in the lineup. The Cardinals had a lot to do with that. Now they face the Browns, the league’s top defensive unit.

Brian Robinson (RB, Commanders)

This Robinson/Antonio Gibson committee has shifted into a clear game-script dependant one, with Robinson handling the majority of the early down work while Gibson handles the passing game role along with all of the long down and distance snaps. With the Commanders nearly 10-point underdogs, this doesn’t profile as a high-volume touch week for Robinson if you have another option on your roster.

Christian Watson (WR, Packers)

I want to buy into the emergence of this Packers passing game, but I believe a lot of their recent success is tied to matchups against the Chargers and Lions secondaries. It’s a young core, and improving together, but this matchup against the Chiefs defense presents a significantly tougher challenge. Watson’s boom-or-bust nature is difficult to trust this week.

Week 14

The end of bye weeks

The Commanders and Cardinals removed two of the worst defenses in the league from the Week 14 slate, and put a bow on by weeks for the season. Thankfully, we get a great Sunday night matchup between the Cowboys and Eagles here because otherwise, the island games are #notgood.

There are a lot of weekly starters among those six teams, so why wait until next week and battle your league mates on the waiver wire? Get ahead of things now.

Each league is different, as it relates to both waiver wire rules and roster depth, so it’s difficult to make recommendations, but you should be using the time before your wire closes to look ahead because most of your league mates aren’t. Jen covers more of that here with 33 players to stash ahead of your fantasy playoff season.

It’s a two-way street around here. You can’t add anyone without cutting someone else, but fear not; we cover that for you here in this week’s Dead Weight Report.

Survivor Strategy

Thanks to our friends at PoolGenius, we can easily use the “holy trinity” of analysis to make educated selections each week. Hopefully, some of you are still alive and fighting in Week 12. Some of the Thanksgiving Day games (and Miami on Friday) were your best options this week (Eh, Detroit?!).

The Holy Trinity Explained:

  • Win odds (how likely a team is to win, especially compared to other options)

  • Pick popularity (the percentage of opponents you expect to pick that team)

  • Future value (how useful that team should be as a future week pick)

Following this methodology, the top options on the board this week are the Dolphins, Steelers, or Rams.

Of course, we cover more than just traditional fantasy at 4for4. Our DFS team is second to none, so if you’re playing on DraftKings or FanDuel, we can help.

TJ, Daigle, and weekly guest Pat Kerrane will hold your hand through lineup construction, picks, values, and weekly game theory on our DFS flagship show, DFS MVP. Subscribe so you don’t miss it.

We also cover betting extensively as well. That’s mostly where you’ll find me, in case you miss me every non-Sunday because you’ve made it to the bottom of this newsletter, so clearly, we’re vibing.

Along with tons of written content, we also do two weekly betting shows, one on Wednesday afternoons to break down our favorite games of the week and another on Friday afternoons to discuss our favorite player prop bets of the week. That show is called “PROP DROP”.

Chiefs @ Packers

Can you believe this is Patrick Mahomes’s first time playing at Lambeau Field? That’s fun. Also fun? Winning bets. Here’s one of my favorite player props this week (you knew this was coming):

If you’re looking to play single-game DFS, Matt has you covered for this one.
