🏴‍☠️ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • WR Chris Godwin - Active PUP List (ankle)

Back in 2006, the Bears had this QB duo of Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton on the roster. I wonder if they’re talking about the competition between Grossman and Brian Griese, or perhaps the fact that they just scored one of the NFL’s most memorable returners in Devin Hester in the 2006 draft?

As the NFL off-season comes to a close, we at DLF are in the midst of several series to help you prepare for the 2025 NFL season. One of those, and a personal favorite, is the “Perfect Draft” series. Here’s a snippet from Tim Riordan’s latest covering his version of The Perfect 2025 Dynasty Startups Draft: 1QB Value.

Fourth Round

Early (Team Three): Chase Brown, RB CIN (ADP: 48; Rank: 39)

Mid (Team Two): Chase Brown, RB CIN (ADP: 48; Rank: 39)

Jaylen Waddle would’ve been the better pick for these teams in this exercise, but in round four, neither of these teams has a running back yet. Personally, I wouldn’t feel very confident going into a season with Brown as my RB1. He was misused as a bellcow back last year because the Bengals had nowhere else to go. Now that Zack Moss is back and healthy, I think Brown’s usage is going to take a significant step back this season. If I needed a running back at this pick, I’d rather take Derrick Henry or Christian McCaffrey, and focus on younger running backs later on in the draft.

Late (Team One): Jaylen Waddle, WR MIA (ADP: 50; Rank: 35)

Waddle is coming off of back-to-back disappointing seasons, but that is what you have to do when you’re drafting for value. Hold your nose, trust your rankings (or DLF’s rankings) and make the pick that is best for your team. Waddle’s upside is incredible, and we could see his ceiling start to emerge as early as this season. Tyreek Hill took a big step back last year with his wrist injury, but he didn’t look as explosive as he usually does. If Tagovailoa can stay healthy, Waddle could become his new favorite pass target.

Fifth Round

Early (Team One): Jalen Hurts, QB PHI (ADP: 49; Rank: 38)

In this exercise, the rankings are loving the early quarterbacks. After team two picked Josh Allen in the third round, team one gets into the QB business with Hurts at the start of round five. There’s a tier drop at QB after Allen, Jackson, Hurts, Jayden Daniels, and Joe Burrow. Once these players are off the board, it makes more sense to wait until the later rounds to make that pick. Hurts is ranked 11 spots higher than his current ADP, and he’s the best weapon in the game at the goal line.

Mid (Team Two): Chris Olave, WR NO (ADP: 54; Rank: 44)

I am very worried about my Olave shares this season, but it feels good to know that the DLF rankers are higher on Olave than the general consensus. This passing offense is going to be ugly, and it’s tough to imagine a wide receiver emerging from the fray to have a good fantasy season. But, we see that happen every single year. Look back to last year with Malik Nabers, Brock Bowers, and Brian Thomas Jr. Pass catchers can find success, even on bad teams. Tyler Shough is going to have to throw the ball, and when he does, Olave and Alvin Kamara are going to be his most reliable options (as long as Olave can stay on the field).

Late (Team Three): James Cook RB BUF (ADP: 58; Rank: 45)

James Cook has been outstanding the past two seasons in Buffalo. After an RB12 finish in 2023, he followed it up with 18 total touchdowns for a RB8 finish. Despite that breakout season, he’s still being drafted outside of the top 50 picks, in about the exact same ADP as he had last year at this time. Touchdown regression has widely been the reasoning for concern for Cook heading into this season. 18 touchdowns will be nearly impossible to match. But he is still the bellcow back on one of the best offenses in football. He’ll be on the yard plenty and Buffalo will lean on him plenty. Even if he does take a step back in touchdowns, I expect he’ll still be an RB1, and a great value at the end of the fifth round.

  • Terry McLaurin did not report to the start of Commanders camp as he enters the final season of a three-year, $71 million extension. Scary Terry is subject to $50,000 per day in fines for every session he’s not out there.

  • Let the panic begin! Actually, don’t panic; it was just a routine cleaning, and allegedly, he’s on track, considering he is on the active/PUP list. Or maybe he’s not on track, but for now, Godwin’s ADP sits at 6.12 as WR34.

  • Bear fans will travel. And give gifts.
