🔥Tuesday Morning Fantasy Football Recap

Week 13 Brought Us Thanksgiving and One of the Weirdest Weeks of Fantasy Football

Week 13 was one of the wildest weeks of fantasy football in recent memory. It started with three out of four primetime games over the Thanksgiving weekend being absolute classics and ended with a hyper-competitive Sunday Night Football matchup.

But Sunday afternoon was a weird day with the Seattle defense and two kickers being among the top-scoring options, and low scores all across the league. Hopefully, you survived and are preparing your teams for the fantasy football playoffs in two weeks.

The Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter will hit your inbox every Tuesday morning this season, and I will bring you the highlights, waiver wire thoughts, streaming options, and injury reports, all right here in one place.

Waiver Wire Additions for Week 14

C.J. Stroud leads a less-than-inspiring group of quarterback free agents this week. He is rostered in fewer than 40% on many fantasy platforms, but now he is back from his concussion and knocked off the rust against the Colts. Stroud has a tough matchup against the Chiefs on Sunday night on the road, but gets the Cardinals and Raiders in the fantasy playoffs after that. With Woody Marks and Jayden Higgins, Stroud now has two other legitimate pass-catchers to go along with Nico Collins.

Bam Knight has value that depends on when Trey Benson comes off the IR, but the Arizona Cardinals don’t appear to be in any rush to clear him to play, with their season essentially over. Last week, Knight rushed 11 times for 62 yards and caught another three passes for 32 yards and a touchdown. If Benson is still out, Knight is worth an add.

Chris Rodriguez Jr. has a touchdown in three straight games and has more than held his own with 41 yards on 11 touches and a touchdown against the Broncos. He is still the lead man in the Washington backfield, and now, after games against Seattle, Detroit, and Denver, his schedule opens up with games against the Vikings and Giants.

Adonai Mitchell was brought back to life by Tyrod Taylor the last two weeks. He finished Sunday as a top two scorer on the day at the wide receiver position. Mitchell had an incredible 12 targets, catching eight of them for 102 yards and a touchdown. This is a game Justin Fields never could have given Mitchell, and he now has 19 targets in his last two games and is worth an add everywhere.

Isaac TeSlaa is a must-add if Amon-Ra St. Brown misses on Thursday night. St. Brown was injured very early in the Thanksgiving game, so we saw a full contest of Detroit’s backup plan. Isaac TeSlaa played 92% of snaps and caught another touchdown. If the Sun God misses more time, TeSlaa becomes an immediate add against the Cowboys and their shaky pass defense.

Brenton Strange has become a focal point of the Jaguars’ offense since he returned from injury two games ago. He had 93 yards in Week 12 and 45 yards with a touchdown on Sunday against Tennessee. With Brian Thomas Jr. falling out of favor in this system, Strange has taken on a larger role that could continue through the fantasy playoffs.

Who to Stream in Week 14

Tyrod Taylor certainly has been the opposite of Justin Fields, chucking the ball downfield and providing accurate passing to the New York Jets pass-catchers. He has thrown a touchdown and rushed at least five times in his last two starts, and plays the Miami Dolphins in Week 14, who have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.

Marcus Mariota turned in the best performances of the season on Monday night against one of the league’s toughest defenses. Mariota threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another 55 yards. If Jayden Daniels does not come back for this Week 14 game (and why should he?), Mariota has a much softer landing spot playing against the Minnesota Vikings, who are 4-8 and are depleted on the defensive side of the ball.

Evan Engram had his best game of the season on Monday night, catching six balls for 79 yards. It corresponded to Engram playing 55% of snaps for the first time since Week 7 and also seeing a season-high nine targets. Engram now gets the Las Vegas Raiders, who have one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL this season.

Harold Fannin Jr. now has back-to-back weeks with more than 90% of snaps for the Cleveland Browns. That’s resulted in at least 40 yards in each of those weeks, and last week, Shedeur Sanders found him in the end zone for a touchdown. This week, Fannin gets the Tennessee Titans, who have allowed 16 passing touchdowns in their first 12 games and just gave up a big game to Brenton Strange.

Fantasy Football Injuries to Monitor

Justin Herbert has broken bones in his left hand and will undergo surgery on Monday to begin healing the breaks. The Chargers and Herbert did not rule out the possibility of him playing in Week 14, but fantasy managers should prepare for the worst here and find potential replacements for Los Angeles' pass catchers and Herbert. Trey Lance would be the next man up.

Aaron Rodgers fractured his left wrist in last week’s game and tried to give it a go in Week 13 but was eventually forced to leave after aggravating it in the second half. Mason Rudolph entered the game, and it may be Rudolph’s team for a while if Rodgers’ wrist is so bad that it keeps him out of games.

Aaron Jones left in the second half due to a shoulder injury he suffered. He didn't return to the game. Before getting hurt, he rushed six times for three yards, caught all four of his targets for 22 yards, and lost a fumble. He will have his shoulder tested early this week to see if he must be out for a week or more. Good news was delivered on Monday.

Marvin Harrison Jr. came back after a two-week absence due to an appendectomy but was forced to leave the game early with a heel injury. He seemed likely to return at one point, but the coaches kept him out of the game. Harrison was having a decent return with six catches for 69 yards, so we just have to hope he isn’t forced to miss more time.

Parker Washington only caught one of his three targets for 26 yards before he had to leave with a hip injury. Washington fell awkwardly during a punt return and was forced to miss the entire second half of the game.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. was injured with a little more than 10 minutes remaining in Monday Night Football, and it was determined to be a hip injury. He was taken off the field by two athletic trainers, unable to put weight on his left leg. He was unable to return from the injury, and now the Giants will wait to see the results of tests on his hip.
