🔥Tuesday Morning Fantasy Football Recap

Week 4 Was Defined by Breakout Performances and Season-Ending Injuries

Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season brought a number of long-awaited breakout performances from rookies and slow starters that were hot draft commodities over the summer. But the other side of the coin was the terrible injuries suffered by fantasy football superstars that are almost certain to keep them out for the rest of the season. Joy and heartbreak all in one week. Pretty much sums up every week in the fantasy football streets.

The Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter will hit your inbox every Tuesday morning this season, and I will bring you the highlights, waiver wire thoughts, streaming options, and injury reports, all right here in one place.

Waiver Wire Additions for Week 5

Jaxson Dart may have lost his top weapon in Malik Nabers this past week, but he still was able to show his upside with a passing touchdown and a rushing score on 54 rushing yards (on 10 carries). Losing Nabers is a big blow, but he still has playmakers on his side, including Cam Skattebo, Theo Johnson, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Darius Slayton. Expect the New York Giants to open up the passing playbook a bit more this week for Dart against the lowly New Orleans Saints.

Woody Marks officially had his breakout game on Sunday and is going to be one of the top waiver wire adds this week. It’s looking like a changing of the guard in Houston, where Marks played 56% of snaps, which got him 21 touches, 119 total yards, and two touchdowns. Nick Chubb played on 42% and got 62 combined yards, but you can be assured that Marks’ role is going to increase after this game. Marks was thought of as a pass-catching back when drafted, but Houston was up big this whole game, and Marks got most of the work.

Kendre Miller may be starting to assume a larger role on the New Orleans Saints, a team that is clearly going nowhere this year and has a 30-year-old running back as the starter. For the fourth straight week, running back Miller saw his snap rate go up, and Alvin Kamara played a season-low 73%. Miller now has back-to-back weeks with at least nine touches and rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown in Week 4.

Darius Slayton will now transition into the primary downfield weapon on the New York Giants’ offense. Considering the bazooka arm Jaxson Dart possesses, Slayton is likely to take on a large role moving forward. Slayton’s yards per reception have been above 14.7 for this entire career, so he could be a helpful boom-or-bust option at wide receiver as the bye weeks are upon us.

Romeo Doubs is somehow only rostered in 40% of Yahoo fantasy football leagues as of Tuesday morning. When waivers run on Wednesday night, that percentage is likely to double after he scored three touchdowns on Sunday night football. Doubs had his best game of the season with six catches for 58 yards and three touchdowns. You can chalk it up to playing a weak Dallas defense, but Douba has emerged as the primary pass-catching weapon in this offense.

Darren Waller turned back the clock on Monday night and caught two touchdowns on three receptions in his first game in two years. Since so much of the tight end game in fantasy football is touchdown-hunting, expect Waller to be a popular pickup in fantasy football leagues this week. With Tyreek Hill done for the season, he should see an uptick in the 16% target share he saw on Monday.

Who to Stream in Week 4

Sam Darnold has a matchup against the Tampa Bay defense on Sunday, and they have allowed seven total touchdowns to quarterbacks on the season. Darnold has a career-high completion percentage and yards per attempt this year, and is averaging more than 14 fantasy points per game despite being in some defensive struggles this year.

Matthew Stafford keeps showing that the old man can still get it done, as he threw for 375 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. With Davante Adams and Puka Nacua, Stafford has one of the best receiver duos of his career, and Sean McVay is deploying them perfectly. Stafford gets the banged-up San Francisco 49ers at home in Week 5.

Mason Taylor didn’t score a touchdown against the Dolphins on Monday night, as those opportunities went to Justin Fields and Garrett Wilson. But the rookie tight end Taylor did have a 26% target share and caught five of seven targets for 65 yards. Only Wilson had more targets than Taylor, and it’s clear that Justin Fields is starting to rely on the tight end as a security blanket. Next up? The Dallas Cowboys have already given up almost 1,300 receiving yards this season.

Theo Johnson is worth streaming in Week 5, but also just might be a priority tight end pick-up after the fallout from Week 4. He had a 25% target share for the Giants; he scored the one passing touchdown for the Giants, and Jaxson Dart looked his way frequently after Malik Nabers went down. Johnson now has the New Orleans Saints this week, who have allowed several touchdowns to tight ends this season.

Fantasy Football Injuries to Monitor

Tyreek Hill suffered a horrific knee injury during the Monday Night Football game against the New York Jets. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where it was confirmed that he had dislocated his knee and would be out for the season. Tyreek Hill was in the midst of one of those vintage games that makes us wonder if he still had some of the vintage Cheetah left inside. But now he faces a tough road back, particularly for a player who will be 32 next year and made his name with his blinding speed.

Brock Purdy felt a significant amount of discomfort in his toe after the Week 4 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. It is the same toe that was part of the reason why he missed two games in Weeks 2-3. It is a particularly significant injury to watch because San Francisco has a short week when they play the LA Rams on Thursday night.

Malik Nabers attempted to catch a long pass from Jaxson Dart in the second quarter and immediately crumpled to the field in pain, clutching his knee. Initial reports are that the team believes he tore his ACL, and he will get an MRI on Monday to try to confirm the diagnosis. It’s an awful injury for an exceptional player, especially when it just looked like the new era of the New York Giants' offense was about to get rolling. Now the Dart-Nabers-Cam Skattebo trio will likely have to reconvene in 2026.

Lamar Jackson left the game against the Kansas City Chiefs with what the team described as a hamstring injury. Mike Florio reported that it was a hamstring strain after the game, which means we will have to wait for further testing to see the severity of the injury and if Lamar Jackson will miss much time.

Ricky Pearsall said after the game against Jacksonville that his knee didn’t feel quite right. Even after leaving the game and trying to come back in, he eventually decided he had to leave for good, which is not a great sign heading into Thursday Night Football just three days from now. The word used after the game was “instability” around the knee, so we will have to wait and see what the team diagnoses.

Darnell Mooney was the one Atlanta Falcons player who was left out of their scoring bonanza against Washington. Mooney left early in the third quarter with his own hamstring injury and was quickly ruled out. Mooney already dealt with shoulder injuries in the preseason, but this hamstring issue is new and something we will have to wait for definitive news.
