Quarterbacks

What stands out: There’s nothing out of the ordinary this week in the QB department.

Running Backs

What stands out: Joe Mixon gets a bump due to a soft matchup in Cleveland and Nick Chubb slides a little against the Bengals.

Wide Receivers

What stands out: Keep an eye on Jaylen Waddle’s status as he’s currently questionable for this week with an abdominal injury. Tyler Lockett sneaks into the top 12 likely due to rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s slow entry back after a wrist injury combined with a decent home matchup against the Rams.

Tight Ends

What stands out: Mark Andrews is still questionable with a quad injury so be sure to keep an eye out. Travis Kelce is left out due to his questionable status and Gerald Everett enters the top 12 thanks to a cushy contest against Miami’s defense that was 31st last year against the TE.

Staying ahead of league mates can be a difference-maker in your fantasy football season. Stashing players a week ahead for streaming or eventual bye-week fill-ins can give us that edge we all crave. Here are some players with either great Week 2 matchups, or they’re in the position for more volume based on injuries ahead of them.

🐏 Van Jefferson, WR (LAR) - With Cooper Kupp sidelined, Jefferson could see WR1 volume for the foreseeable future. His Week 2 tilt is against the 49ers at home, who were surprisingly soft vs. WRs last season (27th). Jefferson is only on 29% of Yahoo rosters.

🏴‍☠️ Sean Tucker, RB (TB) - The rookie is set up for success if Rashaad White stumbles in his role as lead back and could even have stand-alone value depending on how the volume shakes out. The Bucs host the Bears next week, a unit that gave up 24.6 half-PPR points per game to opposing RBs last year (fourth-worst). Tucker is free in 96% of Yahoo leagues.

⚡️ Joshua Palmer, WR (LAC) - It’s looking like Palmer will be lining up as the WR3 for the Chargers ahead of rookie Quentin Johnston. They have a juicy matchup next week against the Titans, who were 31st at defending opposing WRs in 2022. Palmer is only on 2% of Yahoo rosters and is worth a stash if you have the room.

Football is officially back and we get a fun one to start us off! The first TNF of the 2023 NFL season is at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium where the Super Bowl defending Chiefs play host to the Detroit Lions. There are plenty of fantasy pieces in this contest so let’s get to it.

Injury Report

  • ↠ TE Travis Kelce hyperextended his knee this week in practice but initial tests show that all ligaments are intact. He’s still questionable.

*Update: He is a true game-time decision based on today’s workout.

  • ↠ WR Kadarius Toney (knee) has been limited in practice and still has a questionable tag ahead of TNF.
