While it’s only the first week of the NFL season, some of you may not be thrilled with how your roster shaped up after the draft. Perhaps you got sniped and panic-picked, or a few too many adult beverages got in the way of players you wanted. Here are a few options that are likely still on the waiver wire in your league post-draft.

🦅 Kenneth Gainwell RB, Eagles (52% rostered)

The Philly backfield has been one of the toughest to navigate this offseason for fantasy purposes. Media members covering the Eagles have been banging the drum for an increased role for Gainwell in recent weeks including beat reporter Bo Wulf, who on The Athletic Football Show said he believes the RB “is going to end up playing the most. Because he is the most reliable.” Gainwell is still only rostered by just over half of Yahoo fantasy managers and could prove to be a great add.

🐆 Tank Bigsby RB, Jaguars (47% rostered)

Bigsby had six carries to Etienne’s eight with the first team and averaged 6.2 yards per attempt compared to 4.9 by Etienne in the third week of the preseason. The rookie’s usage and snap count increased from the last contest and could continue to cut into Etienne’s share as the season progresses. His ADP has been slowly rising this summer, but the rookie is still an RB4 with plenty of upside in 2023. Bigsby is free in 53% of Yahoo leagues as we head into Week 1 action.

🐴 Marvin Mims WR, Broncos (35%)

The Denver WR room has taken a beating this offseason, with Tim Patrick out for all of 2023/24 and Jerry Jeudy nursing a hamstring injury. Enter rookie Mims, who was one of the first weapons drafted by new HC Sean Payton. Friend of 4for4, Matt Harmon, also likes Mims’ potential this season based on his Reception Perception write-up. Grab the rookie now while he’s still free in 65% of Yahoo leagues.

🐏 Van Jefferson WR, Rams (16% rostered)

With Cooper Kupp seeking a second opinion in Minnesota over the holiday weekend for hamstring issues, it appears that the star WR may miss some time to begin the season. Jefferson was hurt last year along with his QB Matthew Stafford but had a very productive 2021 and is staring at some increased volume, at least from the start. The 27-year-old is only on 16% of Yahoo rosters and could be their target leader for a while.

Playing the matchups is a viable strategy from week to week. Here’s a look at the top candidates for Week 1 in the four streamable positions. Only players rostered in 40% or fewer of Yahoo fantasy leagues will be discussed in this weekly segment. The number in parenthesis represents their current rostership.
