Some Players to Add and Stream for Week 2
The Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter is now coming to your inbox seven days a week throughout the NFL season! In this Tuesday edition, weāll cover waiver wire adds, players to consider streaming for Week 2, and of course the happenings over at 4for4.
*Every Friday will feature a mailbag segment so if you have any questions you want answered, please send them to [email protected] by Thursday afternoon at 5:00 PM ET. Thanks!
Week 1 was a roller coaster, to say the least, as we experienced a few brutal injuries as well as some head-scratching performances both good and bad. Thankfully the waiver wire is full of players to assist us moving forward, whether itās just for one week or the rest of the season. Hereās a look at some guys worth either bidding on or using a waiver claim for depending on your leagueās process.
š¦ Kenneth Gainwell RB, Eagles (47% rostered)
Gainwell was the first guy on this list last week and he remains here after a Week 1 where he was 14th among RBs in touches with 18 against the Patriots. The 24-year-old was solid as the starter for Philly and all that was missing from his performance was a touchdown. The Eagles will score more after a rain-fest in Week 1 and Gainwell should be considered an RB2/flex moving forward.
š Kyren Williams RB, Rams (6% rostered)
Another year, another RB controversy with the Rams right from the start. This was the season it was supposed to be Cam Akersā backfield and the first game started with Williams and Akers going carry for carry. The sophomore ended the contest with a 15-52-2 line and out-snapped Akers 53 to 28. Williams appears to be a thing in this RB room and should be rostered moving forward.
šŖŗ Justice Hill & Gus Edwards RBs, Ravens (4% & 20% rostered)
A third-quarter Achilles injury against the Texans sadly ended the season for J.K. Dobbins way too early. Hill and Edwards split the workload for the remainder of the game, with Hill getting the goal-line touches. Both guys are worthy of a waiver pickup with Hill more of a priority based on red zone usage.
š§ Romeo Doubs WR, Packers (31% rostered)
If you read any of my off-season articles or even write-ups in this newsletter, you saw me pounding the table for Doubs. While I am not victory-lapping an injury to Christian Watson, I am hoping that some of you drafted the sophomore and wonāt need to add him via the wire this week. Doubs took advantage of his increased looks, catching 4-of-5 balls for 26 yards and two scores. Watsonās return is still TBD, but he was not practicing at all last week which doesnāt bode well for suiting up in Week 2. Doubs could remain the Packers WR1 next week in Atlanta and should be picked up in most formats.
š Puka Nacua WR, Rams (7% rostered)
With Cooper Kupp on the shelf for at least four games, it was Nacua who led the team in targets with 15 and posted a team-high 120 yards on 10 receptions. The rookieās role could grow even more from here with Kupp sidelined and he makes for a solid add as a fantasy WR3. His teammate Tutu Atwell also had an impressive outing with six catches for 119 yards on eight targets, and is free in 97% of Yahoo leagues.
