Who’s ready for some old-fashioned NFC East football? Welcome to Thursday’s edition of the Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter, where I’ll cover Week 4 ranks, a look ahead, the TNF matchup, and of course the happenings over at 4for4.

All rankings are based on half-PPR scoring. For full ranks in a variety of scoring formats, head to 4for4.com.

Quarterbacks

What stands out: Kyler Murray claims the top spot this week courtesy of a tilt with the Commanders’ 32nd-ranked defense in QB aFPA. On the other side of that same game, Jayden Daniels moves up to third.

Running Backs

What stands out: There wasn’t much change in the RB1 category this week. Josh Jacobs and Jahmyr Gibbs fall out to spots 23 and 16 respectively, while Kyren Williams and James Conner join the top of the pack.

Wide Receivers

What stands out: As of Thursday morning there are a lot of injury tags among the top 12 WRs so these ranks may be shaken up by game time. Most noticeably absent are Mike Evans and Garrett Wilson who fall just outside the fantasy WR1 category.

Tight Ends

What stands out: What really stands out is that TE is a wasteland this season and no one is safe. When Zach Ertz is among the top 10 in 2024, you know it isn’t good.

With bye weeks looming, here are some good stashes ahead of Week 4.

🧀 Emanuel Wilson, RB - Packers (10% rostered)- The Green Bay RB room is in triage mode as Josh Jacobs was limited last week with a back issue, and rookie MarShawn Lloyd is still on the IR due to an ankle injury. Jacobs did play in Week 3 but posted only 48 yards on 15 carries for a mere 5.3 half-PPR points in the Packers win. Wilson had 12 carries for 50 yards, plus an additional two catches for 35 yards and a touchdown in a more significant role.

The Titans shut Jacobs down fairly early which also helped Wilson’s cause, but it may not hurt to tuck the sophomore away as the current RB2 in this Green Bay unit that keeps finding ways to score and win.

🐻 Roschon Johnson, RB -Bears (11% rostered) It’s been a slow burn for Johnson in 2024 as he opened the season inactive in Week 1 and then played only on special teams in the following contest. Last week Johnson saw 33 snaps and outproduced D'Andre Swift by three half-PPR points despite seeing fewer touches. Swift is averaging a minuscule 1.8 yards per attempt thus far which is the lowest among all RBs in the NFL with at least five carries this season.

Swift isn’t likely to get straight-up benched, but the Bears could relegate him to a pure pass-catching role and give Johnson the bulk of the rushing attempts in the near future if this inefficiency keeps up.

🎖️ Ja'Lynn Polk, WR - Patriots (10% rostered) The rookie has the second most catches among Patriot WRs (5) and has the only score in the room, but it hasn’t amounted to much from a fantasy perspective for Polk. He’s averaged just 3.9 half-PPR points per tilt but things could turn around as he acclimates more to the league and if they make a QB change, Polk could be valuable for the second part of the 2024 season.

🧀 Tucker Kraft, TE- Packers (3% rostered) With 162 snaps to Luke Musgrave’s 83 and eight targets to the latter’s four, Kraft has emerged as the starter at TE in Green Bay. He doesn't have the sexiest fantasy production so far, as the team has leaned more on the run with Malik Willis under center. However, when Jordan Love returns you could have TE1 output so he’s worth snagging now.

The Giants play host to NFC East rival Dallas tonight. Plenty of fantasy pieces are involved in this one, so let’s find a contest to play.
