TNF Preview and a Look Ahead
Happy Halloween fantasy community and welcome to Thursdayās edition of the Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter, where Iāll cover Week 9 ranks, a look ahead, the TNF matchup, and of course the happenings over at 4for4.
All rankings are based on half-PPR scoring. For full ranks in a variety of scoring formats, head to 4for4.com.
Quarterbacks
What stands out: C.J. Stroud slides all the way down to QB21 this week with a tough matchup and a depleted WR corps. Geno Smith and Dak Prescott are back among the QB1s with Brock Purdy on a bye and Stroud no longer up here.
Running Backs
What stands out: A date with Dallas gives Bijan Robinson the top spot this week, up from QB8 last week. Alvin Kamara is back in fantasy RB1 territory and Tony Pollard joins the top 12 ahead of a Patriots matchup.
Wide Receivers
What stands out: We have some fresh blood in the fantasy WR1 category this week. Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp are back after time on IR and Terry McLaurinās renaissance lands him at WR12.
Tight Ends
What stands out: Mark Andrews is back as a TE1 for the first time in many weeks taking George Kittleās spot who is on a bye. The rest are the same names who have shuffled places a little bit.
Here are some good stashes ahead of Week 9 and the looming NFL trade deadline.
š Parker Washington, WR - Jaguars (30% rostered) - Banking on any Jacksonville WR not named Brian Thomas Jr. takes a strong stomach but Washington could benefit some receiver-needy teams out there. Christian Kirk is out for the season with a collarbone injury and both Thomas and Gabe Davis got dinged up last week, leaving space for Washington to get more action. Once Kirk left the game in Week 8, Washington was plugged right in and saw four targets which he turned into three receptions for 46 yards. He may not crack your starting lineup, but if he gets going in that depleted Jags offense, youāll be ahead of the game.
š» Khalil Herbert, RB -Bears (7% rostered) The Bears seem pretty set with DāAndre Swift and Roschon Johnson as their RB tandem, considering Herbert hasnāt seen a touch since Week 3. Heās a prime candidate for a trade with so many depleted depth charts, so he could be worth a grab in the event Herbert finds a new home before the November 5th trade deadline.
š¤ Brandin Cooks, WR - Cowboys (11% rostered) The Cowboys arenāt who we expected them to be in 2024 suffering three brutal home losses, but they did manage to score 24 points on Sunday night and we saw some semblance of an offense with three Dallas players scoring double-digit fantasy points. Cooks is able to return in Week 10 and the Dallas schedule is nice and soft for WRs from Weeks 10-16, as five of their seven opposing defensive units rank 23rd or worse in WR aFPA.
šāā¬ Miles Sanders, RB - Panthers (2% rostered) I can hear your groans from here and I understand. However, stashing Sanders is a trade deadline move. The 27-year-old actually saw a season-high seven targets last week as the check-down option with Bryce Young back under center, and this could be a preview of whatās to come if Carolina trades Chuba Hubbard ahead of Jonathon Brooks entering active play. If they end up trading Sanders himself, he could see a bigger role in another offense. If none of this occurs, the RB is an easy drop decision which is hard to come by these days.
The Jets play host to Houston tonight. Plenty of fantasy pieces are involved in this one, so letās find a contest to play.
