✍🏻Week 9 Fantasy's Need-To-Know

And What's Coming In Week 10

The Deep Dive Fantasy Newsletter is now coming to your inbox seven days a week throughout the NFL season, and I, Ryan Noonan, have the honor of being your Sunday morning MC.

We’ll tackle start/sits, DFS, Survivor pool strategy, and a bit of betting as well.

I love this ‘Watchability’ index from our friends over at SumerSports. We have four elite games (Seattle/Baltimore isn’t getting enough love here) split up from tip to tail.

The rest of the slate? Wow.

You can’t really stream running backs or wide receivers, but depending on your league’s size and settings, you can often stream quarterbacks, tight ends, and defenses.

I was informed that in 2023, people still play in fantasy leagues with kickers (working to confirm this), but in the meantime, we also have kicker streaming options as well.

My 4for4 teammates cover that for you here.

Our resident projection and rankings alpha, John Paulsen, will bring you his favorite Sneaky Starts & Sleepers each week. He’s pretty good at the whole rankings and projections thing, so it’s worth your time.

If you’re new here, I want to let you in on a little secret.

Giving start/sit advice without context in a newsletter is my own private hell.

I don’t know your league size, scoring, or anything about you.

Despite that, I’m still going to give you a few names that are worth your attention this morning since today’s the day.

Here are a few names that are start-worthy today:

Bryce Young (QB, Panthers)

I think we continue to see a post-bye bump for the first overall pick. This spot at home against a beaten-up Colts defense is a soft landing spot, and the play volume is a plus as well. The Colts play fast, and their games average the most combined snaps in the league.

Devin Singletary (RB, Texans)

At running back, volume is the name of the game. Dameon Pierce is sitting out with an ankle injury, leaving Singletary and Mike Boone in the backfield for the Texans. I don’t anticipate we will see a highly efficient game from Singletary, but 15-20 touches are start-worthy this week.

Zach Charbonnet (RB, Seahawks)

I think Charbonnet clearly has a role here moving forward. He played 100% of SEA's long down and distance snaps and 100% of their 2-min drill snaps last week against the Browns. He out-snapped Kenneth Walker Jr. on the week, and while I’m not sure that’s sticky, I don’t think ZC is going away. Among 65 qualifying backs, he ranks third in explosive run rate, 19th in missed tackles forced, and ninth in yards after contact per attempt.

DeMario “Pop” Douglas (WR, Patriots)

There’s a clear path to a spike in work for Pop Douglas this week, and he’s been earning a larger share of snaps and targets regardless of who’s health at the position. With Kendrick Bourne lost for the season and Devante Parker out with a concussion, Pop is the last man standing. He’s been playing ahead of JuJu Smith-Schuster, who’s also on the Patriots. I don’t blame you if you forgot about that.

Khalil Shakir (WR, Bills)

The Bills shifted into a heavy 3-WR set look against the Buccaneers last week, and Shakir was the beneficiary. He ran a route on a season-high 72% of Josh Allen’s dropbacks and saw six catchable targets along the way. In a fast-paced game on Sunday night, Shakir could be a sneaky Sunday night hammer.

Daniel Bellinger (TE, Giants)

Look, I gave you Trey McBride here last week. They can’t all be winners. But, with Darren Waller out, the slow and big-bodied Bellinger should see more routes and could fall into an end zone target in this matchup against the Raiders.

Now for the bad news. You might have to start these guys, but if you have decent options, I’d SIT ‘EM. This is more a group of players where I’m lower than the consensus is this week:

Deshaun Watson (QB, Browns)

This is a great spot for Watson to work back into the lineup, assuming he can throw the ball with a bit more zip than he had in the game against the Colts before going down with a reaggravated shoulder injury. I don’t think he’ll be required to do much here, with the league’s top defense hosting Clayton Tune on the other side of this matchup.

D’Onta Foreman (RB, Bears)

Foreman played well in his limited time as the lone back in Chicago, but those days are over. Foreman was a part of a three-man committee last week against the Chargers, and I think Roschon Johnson will start to become the lead of that committee, making it a stay-away for all parties involved.

Puka Nacua (WR, Rams)

We underestimate the impact that Matthew Stafford has on this offense, and with Brett Rypien under center for the Rams today, I think we’ll see it firsthand. Nacua isn’t 100% either, and Rypien has been unimpressive when given the chance to play.

Week 10

Bye’s continue with the Chiefs, Eagles, Dolphins, and Rams taking a seat. Those are some of the best offenses in the league, and there are some valuable fantasy assets in there, so why wait until next week and battle your league mates on the waiver wire? Get ahead of things now.

Each league is different, as it relates to both waiver wire rules and roster depth, so it’s difficult to make recommendations, but you should be using the time before your wire closes to look ahead because most of your league mates aren’t. Jen covers more of that here.

It’s a two-way street around here. You can’t add anyone without cutting someone else, but fear not; we cover that for you here in this week’s Dead Weight Report.

Survivor Strategy

We have a few viable options on this board this week, assuming you’re still alive.

The Browns and Saints are big home favorites this week, but for more Survivor Pick thoughts, check this out.

Of course, we cover more than just traditional fantasy at 4for4. Our DFS team is second to none, so if you’re playing on DraftKings or FanDuel, we can help.

TJ, Daigle, and weekly guest Pat Kerrane will hold your hand through lineup construction, picks, values, and weekly game theory on our DFS flagship show, DFS MVP. Subscribe so you don’t miss it.

Bills @ Bengals

I can’t wait for this one. We have a lot of different bets on this matchup, and I love the Bengals (anything less than -3), and I bet the over earlier in the week before it climbed out to 50.5.

This snippet is from my weekly totals article:

If you’re looking to play single-game DFS, Matt has you covered for this one.
